Reports out today indicate that due to the recent horrific floods that have plagued Thailand will impact global prices and contracts of memory and shortages of 3.5″ HDD will soon be felt around the world.

The statistics come from inSpectrum and they quoted:

Quotes for HDDs to PC vendors have jumped 20-40% due to

the floods. With the increased costs for HDDs, PC vendors might slow down their plans for the bit growth in their products. This is expected to affect overall DRAM bit growth in the fourth quarter of the year.
